Do the tarps have any UV protection?

Our tarps are designed primarily to repel water and withstand wind, so there is no official UV protection or UV-endurance rating per se.
Having said that, we have had some Defender Camo tarps exposed outside covering our office deck for 2-3 years and still remain relatively unaffected by the elements. This is after constant sun, wind, and heavy West Coast rain exposure, as we have them up year-round.
Aqua Quest will certainly be looking into an official UV rating in the future.

Can I take your waist pouches or backpacks swimming/snorkeling?

Our bags and pouches will maintain their waterproof ability through temporary submersion. It is not recommended to submerge your gear for an extended time. Even though some customers have had success using it in this fashion, it’s not what they were designed for and unfortunately not something that we can guarantee.

Do you have some examples of tarp set ups?

We are certainly working on this and should have links available soon!

Are the backpacks machine washable?

We strongly advise against machine washing the products, as the detergent and agitation can erode the waterproof coatings. Regularly wiping down your backpack will help minimize dirt build up but sometime you may need to do a more thorough clean.
To clean you will first want to empty the backpack checking all pockets. Check corners and seams for any debris that may be lodged there, if you’re being thorough you may wish to use a vacuum cleaner.
1. Fill a bath with plenty of luke warm water.
2. Add a small amount of detergent free soap.
3. Using a soft brush or cloth scrub the bag, focusing on areas that are particularly dirty. A toothbrush is useful for particularly tough stains.
4. Allow the backpack to dry naturally away from direct heat sources. If possible hang the backpack upside down to dry. Do not tumble dry as this can damage the bag. Ensure the bag is 100% dry before storing.

Do you offer custom tarp sizes?

We can do any size or color of tarp that a customer wants, provided they are willing to buy in larger quantities, as we only do custom work on a per-fabric-roll basis. Please contact us directly with any questions and ideas you have.

Do you sell repair kits?

This is something we definitely have in the pipeline, but it isn’t available as of yet.

What is the fire resistance of your tarps?

At this time unfortunately none of our products are fire-resistant.
Our Research & Development department is currently working on such products, trying to find the best combination of materials that will provide maximum waterproof ability, fire resistance and still maintain the lowest possible weight.

Does your Hooped Bivy produce condensation?

A hooped bivy is essentially a one-wall tent and while some bivys may breathe better, they will not be fully waterproof.
If it is made of a proper waterproof material, it will breathe less, and be more protected from water coming in.
We make our bivies to be more waterproof, though they are still breathable to the degree that they do allow about 3000 grams of moisture per meter per day to escape.
If you are very concerned that condensation will be an issue, check out our West Coast Bivy, a fully breathable mesh bivy. It is designed to be used with one of our many tarps, giving you a roomy waterproof, condensation-proof 1-2 person shelter.
